Consultation

Two people in a professional discussion.

A space to think through complex work

Working with trauma and domestic and family violence  can be complex. The dynamics of abuse, coercive control and trauma can make clinical decision-making challenging, particularly when there are multiple layers to a client’s situation.

I offer clinical consultation to mental health professionals and teams working in the domestic and family violence sector, or with trauma more broadly,  providing an opportunity to pause, think through the work and consider what may be happening beneath the surface.

Consultation may be useful when you are:

  • Working with complex presentations involving trauma or abuse
  • Trying to understand patterns of coercive control or emotional abuse
  • Unsure how to approach a particular clinical situation
  • Developing a formulation or considering treatment options
  • Navigating the therapeutic relationship or professional boundaries
  • Supporting clients experiencing ongoing abuse after separation
  • Working through the impact of complex cases on yourself or your team

Consultation for Teams

I can work with organisations and teams supporting people affected by domestic and family violence.

Team consultation can be tailored to the needs of your service. It may involve exploring case themes, developing a shared understanding of complex presentations, strengthening trauma-informed practice, or creating space for teams to reflect on the challenges that come with this work.

Consultation can be arranged as a one-off session or ongoing support.

A Different Perspective

Consultation isn’t about having all the answers. It is an opportunity to bring a difficult situation, a question or something that hasn’t quite made sense yet, and work through it together.

My approach draws on my clinical experience and trauma-informed practice, with an understanding of the complexities that can arise when working with trauma, abusive relationships and family violence.

If you would like to discuss consultation for yourself or your team, please get in touch.
